Dr. Cutler earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy from UCSF in 2000 and completed a residency in pharmacy practice at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in 2001.

Dr. Cutler joined the UCSF faculty in 2004 and is currently a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and is the Divine Family Endowed Chair in Clinical Pharmacy. In this role he works as a clinical pharmacist in collaboration with the UC Davis Medical Center and is the Director of the Sacramento Experiential Program. There, he devotes much of his time to the fourth year pharmacy students placed at the UC Davis Medical Center and throughout Sacramento and is evaluating the roles of pharmacists in ambulatroy care throughout the UC medical centers.

He is currently working in a Medication Therapy Management Clinic with the UC Davis Medical Center where he works with seniors to improve their medication therapy and reduce out of pocket prescription drug costs. Dr. Cutler’s current research and practice foci are on geriatric pharmacy, medication therapy management, Medicare outreach and the development of new pharmacy curriculum. Most recently he was a visiting Professor at Kobe Gakuin Pharmaceutical University in Kobe, Japan.

Dr. Cutler was a co-investigator on a grant called “Partners in D,” funded by the Amgen Foundation, where he and colleagues develop Medicare Part D curricular innovations for dissemination to seven schools of pharmacy in California. He is certified by the Commission on Geriatric Pharmacy, is a graduate of the faculty scholar’s program in the Northern California Geriatric Education Center, and serves on the UC Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing Graduate Group. He has lectured at state and national conferences to audiences of physicians, pharmacists and nurses. He received the Albert Prescott Leadership Award from the Pharmacy Leadership and Education Institute in 2011.
