Dr. Newman uses methods of epidemiology to do research on clinical problems in pediatrics, such as jaundice and infections in newborn babies, urinary tract infections and cholesterol screening. He has a long term interest in teaching clinical research methods and is coauthor of two textbooks: Designing Clinical Research (5th edition, with Warren Browner and others, 2022) and Evidence-Based Diagnosis (2nd edition, with Dr. Michael Kohn, 2020).
