My overarching career goal is to advance the care of infants and children affected by HIV. I perform Phase I/II clinical trials that establish the safe and effective dosing of new antiretroviral medications for children, larger clinical trials that evaluate multilevel interventions to improve care engagement and outcomes among adolescents and young adults living with HIV.

Within the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT), I serve as Chair of the Treatment Scientific Committee, that helps to set the network's research agenda for pregnant women and children. I also serve in professional roles that allow me to accelerate the adoption of new evidence into treatment guidelines. I serve as co-chair of the NIH/DHHS Panel on Antiretroviral Therapy and Medical Management of HIV-Infected Children that publishes treatment guidelines for children in the USA, and co-chair to the Pediatric Antiretroviral Working Group at the World Health Organization. I also provide clinical care to families and children living with or otherwise affected by HIV in the Bay Area.
