Dr. Shereen Katrak is a specialist in infectious diseases, those caused by microorganisms such as viruses and bacteria. Her expertise includes HIV and tuberculosis. She cares for patients at both UCSF and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Katrak's research focuses on how to ensure that patients get appropriate screening and treatment to prevent tuberculosis. She also studies the treatment of patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis and the management of immunocompromised patients with tuberculosis.

After earning a master of public health degree at the University of California, Berkeley, Katrak earned her medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University. She completed a residency in internal medicine at the Duke University Health System, followed by a fellowship in infectious diseases at UCSF.
