Sarah Flynn is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine at UCSF Health. As a hospitalist, Dr. Flynn cares for patients on a variety of inpatient medical services and also supervises teams of resident physicians and medical students.

She is board certified in Internal Medicine and has scholarly interests and experiences in health disparities research, quality improvement, implementation science, patient safety, and health systems leadership.
Dr. Flynn received her undergraduate degree from Stanford University where she majored in Human Biology and minored in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity. Prior to medical school she worked in the Johns Hopkins Center to Eliminate Cardiovascular Health Disparities on several community-based interventions to reduce hypertension disparities in Baltimore City. She earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Flynn completed a graduate degree in Primary Care Research from the University of Cambridge. Her master's thesis explored how sociodemographic inequalities in patient experiences have changed over time in the United Kingdom. Dr. Flynn completed her medical internship and residency in Internal Medicine at UCSF with additional training as a member of the residency’s Health Systems and Leadership pathway. She then served as a UCSF Chief Resident at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.
