Salu holds a prominent position as a Senior Embryologist at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). His academic pursuits began at the University of California, Davis, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. During this period, he worked closely with Professor Berger on multiple Sertoli cell research initiatives.

Eager to further his education, Salu acquired a Master's degree in Clinical Embryology from the esteemed University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. His fervor for the subject brought him to the UCSF IVF lab, where he skillfully navigates information systems and regulations in the realm of Embryology. His areas of expertise encompass artificial intelligence, and microfluidic technology, as well as holding leadership roles in the Northern California Association of Reproductive Biologists (NCARB), College of Reproductive Biology (CRB), and the Society of Reproductive Biologists Technologists (SRBT).

In recognition of his commitment and proficiency, Salu co-authored a chapter in the acclaimed textbook Reproductive Biology (Yen & Jaffe's Reproductive Endocrinology, 8th Edition) with his fellow IVF Laboratory team members. This significant contribution now functions as a vital educational tool for learners at the UCSF School of Medicine.
