Sabrina Darrow, PhD

Dr. Sabrina Darrow is Associate Professor and licensed psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry. She is passionate about improving the link between research and mental health services with the goal of empowering individuals to reach their personal goals. She has a particular interest in helping youth struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicide.

Dr. Darrow's expertise is in clinical behavior analysis and her primary research interests include the clinical utility of assessments, mechanisms of action in psychotherapy, and implementation science.

Dr. Darrow directs the Wavefront program at UCSF. The Wavefront Program provides evidence-based treatment, training, and research to improve emotion regulation for young people impacted by mood, anxiety, suicide, trauma, and OC-related disorders. In this role, she leads the evaluation and research embedded in the Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy clinics. Dr. Darrow is also leading a collaboration with San Francisco County’s Child, Youth and Family System of Care to implement and evaluate Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Adolescents in the public mental health system.

Dr. Darrow is also a clinician within the Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program for Adolescents and Young Adults (http://psych.ucsf.edu/DBTprogram) where she works with high risk, multiproblem youth and their families. She also supervises trainees’ clinical work with youth.

Dr. Darrow obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Doctorate in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Nevada, Reno. She completed her internship at the Southern Arizona Veterans Health Care System and postdoctoral studies, including the T32 Clinical Services Research Training Program, at UCSF.
