Dr. Rebecca Leon received her PharmD from the University of the Pacific's Thomas J Long School of Pharmacy and then completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency with an emphasis in Ambulatory Care at Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center.

After residency, Dr. Leon remained at KPSF as an Ambulatory Care Pharmacist and provided disease-state and medication management for patients with cardiovascular diseases and anticoagulation. Prior to joining UCSF, Dr Leon collaborated with health sciences faculty at California State University - Fresno to create an interprofessional collaborative for health professional students and local providers to address significant health issues (such as the opioid and mental health crises) in California's Central Valley. Dr Leon was also an ambulatory care pharmacist at two clinical practice sites in Fresno, where she developed a new pharmacist-led teleophthalmology service to provide diabetic retinal exams for underserved patients with diabetes. Currently, Dr. Leon is a Clinical Pharmacist within UCSF's Office of Population Health. Dr. Leon is passionate about social justice and collaborating across professions to find innovative ways to bridge the gap in health inequities. Her research interests include social determinants of health, opioid overdose prevention, interprofessional collaborations and innovative pharmacy services. Dr Leon also enjoys teaching and precepting students and residents.
