At her medical school graduation from UCSD, she received the Foundation Achievement Award in Surgery, awarded to the top medical student pursuing a surgical field.

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she then returned to UCSF for Plastic Surgery residency. In her dedicated research year, she was awarded funding from the T32 in Surgical Oncology and worked on two novel prospective clinical trials in breast reconstruction.
