Nancy Parks, MD, FACS, is an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Surgery at the University of California San Francisco Fresno, and the Associate Program Director for the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship Program at the UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research.

Dr. Parks received her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska and completed her General Surgery Residency Program at UCSF Fresno. Subsequently, Dr. Parks completed a Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. Parks joined the core faculty in the Department of Surgery in General Surgery and Critical Care Surgery at Community Regional Medical Center in 2014. In her role as faculty her clinical activities include attending on the Acute Care Surgery team, the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team, and the Trauma ICU team. In addition to her clinical activities, her involvement as a teaching practitioner consist of clinical and didactic teaching involving medical students, general surgery residents and Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery fellows.

In her role as the Associate Program Director for the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery Fellowships she not only mentors but helps design the curriculum for fellows, including conferences and clinical rotations.

Dr. Parks has a particular interest in mentoring women residents and has co-coordinated the East Bay Women in Surgery Group. This group includes medical students, residents, and attendings from the East Bay. Her objective is to foster increased connections among women surgeons and also directly address and discuss issues pertinent to female medical students and residents planning their careers in surgery.

Dr. Parks is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and serves as a active member of numerous professional societies including the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, East Bay Surgical Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Association for Academic Surgery.
