Dr. Mitra Assemi is a Professor and Experiential Program Director in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and the Associate Dean for Accreditation and Quality Improvement in the School of Pharmacy at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Assemi received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from and completed a one-year residency in general pharmacy practice at UCSF.

As Associate Dean, she is responsible for accreditation of the School's Doctor of Pharmacy degree program and provides guidance for the program's organizational structure and processes related to assessment. Related accomplishments include leading program assessment for the PharmD program and re-accreditation for the PharmD program in 2013 and 2021. Dr. Assemi also serves as the Experiential Program Director for the School’s pharmacy practice experiences (I/APPEs) based in central California. As such, she is responsible for developing and maintaining IPPE and APPE sites and experiences; teaching, mentoring, and advising students; and recruiting and developing volunteer faculty. Her current research interests include programmatic assessment and curriculum development and assessment (including experiential education program-related development and assessment). Her experiences with curriculum development and assessment include developing and assessing train-the-trainer programs focused on curriculum development for cultural and linguistic competence training within health professions education. Additional interest areas include care for the underserved and diversifying the health professions workforce.
