Melissa R. Bachhuber, MD is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at UCSF. She practices primary care and hospital medicine at the San Francisco VA and also serves as an attending on the inpatient wards and primary care clinic.

She is a member of the Core Faculty for the VA Center of Excellence for Primary Care Education which focuses on providing internal medicine residents and advanced nurse practitioner students with longitudinal training in team-based, interprofessional patient care. Dr. Bachhuber has expertise in curricular development in interprofessional, case-based conferences. In her work with medical students she serves as a UCSF School of Medicine Coach (http://meded.ucsf.edu/mse/coaching-program) where she engages in teaching and mentoring medical students longitudinally in quality improvement and clinical skill development. Dr. Bachhuber was appointed as the SFVA Deputy Associate Chief of Staff for Education in 2013 and continues to serve in this role. She was a member of the School of Medicine 2013-2014 Teaching Scholars Program.
