As the Department of Medicine's Associate Chair for Administration, Maria serves as the Chief Administrative Officer. She is responsible for human resources, academic affairs, space, IT, facilities, staff experience, research administration, and communications, as well as for leadership of the central administration and division manager teams.

Maria completed her undergraduate work in the Philippines and Japan, and went on to receive two Master’s degrees: one in public policy from Osaka University and a second in international affairs and finance from Columbia University.

As a leader, Maria is passionate about employee engagement and development, creative decision-making, value and efficiency, and systems improvement.
