Dr. Lynn Flint is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Geriatrics. She is a board-certified internist and hospice and palliative medicine physician and a medical educator.

Clinical Work Dr. Flint is an attending physician at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. She provides outpatient palliative care consultation and nursing home care for older adults with complex chronic illness and functional and cognitive impairment. She serves as the medical director for the SFVA outpatient palliative care clinic.

Education Work Dr. Flint is the founding director of the UCSF Integrated Geriatrics and Palliative Care ("Geripal") Fellowship program, the first of its kind on the west coast. This innovative fellowship trains physicians to become leaders in the care of older adults with serious illness through clinical care, research, education, quality improvement and program development. Dr. Flint is a co-creator of the UCSF Fellows Leadership Cohort, a successful program introducing medical sub-specialty fellows to foundational leadership concepts. She is also a co-leader of a unique, longitudinal leadership development program for all the Geripal fellows in the country. She was inducted into the Debra T. Hallas Academy of Medical Educators in 2021.

Training Dr. Flint graduated from Yale University in 1998 with a B.A. in Psychology. She graduated from New York University School of Medicine in 2004, and she completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in 2007. She completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System in 2007. After joining the Division of Geriatrics, Dr. Flint sought additional training in medical education. She was selected to participate in the Teaching Scholars Program, which she completed in 2016. She completed the Association of American Medical College's Leadership and Development program in 2018. Dr. Flint also completed training to become a Vitaltalk Faciliator in 2019. Vitaltalk is a nationally-recognized course in serious illness communication. She continues to seek training in medical education leadership and is currently participating the in the Teach for UCSF Certificate in Teaching for Inclusion and Equity.
