Elizabeth Holt MD, PhD is Professor of Medicine and Surgery and Director of the Inpatient Endocrinology Consult Service at UCSF. Dr. Holt came to UCSF in 2023 from Yale Medical School where she was a faculty member in the Section of Endocrinology and held teaching and administrative roles on the inpatient Internal Medicine Service at Yale New Haven Hospital.

Her clinical interests are in tumors and other disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pituitary glands. She also has expertise in care of people with osteoporosis and in bone densitometry. Dr. Holt has published in the areas of thyroid disease and disorders of calcium metabolism. She is a current member of the American Thyroid Association Clinical Affairs Committee and the American Board of Internal Medicine Exam Item-Writing Task Force (Endocrinology). She serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of the Endocrine Society. Dr. Holt is a native of New Haven, Connecticut. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Barnard College/Columbia University and her MD-PhD (Cellular and Molecular Physiology) from Yale. She completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism all at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
