Dr. Lise McCarthy, PT, DPT, GCS, has operated a geriatric house calls practice based in San Francisco since 2000. She is a Medicare Part B Provider. She has been affiliated with UCSF since 2012. Her clinical interests have always been geriatric physical therapy.

Her sub-specialty is gero-geriatrics which means she is an expert in managing the physical therapy care of people who are aged 80 and older, and who are considered medically complex (e.g. multiple acute and chronic medical conditions, multi-factorial fall risks, complex pain, cognitive and mental health issues). She is the Founding Chair of the Cognitive and Mental Health SIG of the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy (2014 - 2017). She is a national lecturer on dementia care and pain management. In 2015, she was appointed as a Joint Committee Member of the Dementia Measure Update Work Group, which is a national task force chaired by the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Neurology.
