Kristie L. White is a pathologist who specializes in the diagnosis of hematologic disorders including leukemia, lymphoma, and infections and inherited disorders with hematologic manifestations. She is the Medical Director of the Hematology Laboratory at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, where she also oversees the clinical hematopathology service.

In addition to her clinical roles, Dr. White is also involved in several aspects of medical education, with specific interests in introducing new technologies into medical education and in the development of assessment methods and curricula for medical student and pathology resident education. Her work in medical education includes serving as the Program Director for the Clinical Pathology Residency Training Program. She is also Co-Director for the Health Professions Education (HPE) Pathway at UCSF and has served on the Education Committee for the Unites States & Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP).

Dr. White earned her undergraduate degree in molecular biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and a medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). In addition, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of California, Berkeley. She completed anatomic and clinical pathology residency training at UCSF, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by fellowships in both surgical pathology and hematopathology at UCSF. Dr. White joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine in 2014.
