Kimberly Ray, MD, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Radiology in the Breast Imaging section in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Ray received her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine in 2001, and she completed a one-year internship from Loma Linda University Medical Center in California, in 2002.

She finished a four-year Diagnostic Radiology residency from the University of California, Irvine in 2006, followed by a fellowship in Breast Imaging from UCSF in 2007.

From 2007-2013, Dr. Ray was the Medical Director of the Center for Breast Imaging and Diagnosis at the St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, California. She has expertise in screening and diagnostic mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound and MRI, and breast interventional procedures. Her research interests focuses on the use of advanced breast imaging techniques such as digital breast tomosynthesis and MRI to improve clinical outcomes.

Dr. Ray has helped in shaping the new integrated breast imaging services at SFGH-Avon and Mount Zion sites. Dr. Ray serves as the MQSA lead interpreting physician for the Avon Breast Center and is focusing her efforts on programmatic enhancements at Avon including building IT infrastructure, establishing a digital breast tomosynthesis program and growing the breast MRI clinical and research programs.
