Dr. Kimberly Koester, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. She is also a member of the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies in the Division of Prevention Science. As an anthropologist, she specializes in qualitative research and collaborates on as well as leads team-based science studies focused on HIV prevention, care and treatment.

She is particularly interested in sexual health promotion, patient-provider communication and has done extensive research on the social and sexual consequences of biomedical HIV prevention technologies. She teaches in the UCSF Implementation Science Certificate program and is the Division of Prevention Science Education Lead.
