Katie Giessler, MPH, is a Senior Research Analyst for the SPARQ Project at the Institute for Global Health Sciences at the University of California in San Francisco.

Katie is global health professional with extensive experience in non-profit and academic settings across a variety of health issues including provision of respectful, person-centered care for women seeking reproductive health services in global settings; reduction of maternal and child mortality in low-resource settings; and HIV prevention within marginalized communities in the US. Prior to joining SPARQ, Katie managed a large clinical trial in Ghana aimed at reducing infant and child mortality due to undifferentiated respiratory distress through the use of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP.) Currently, Katie manages all aspects of implementation of SPARQ’s Quality Improvement projects focused on improving patient-experience in reproductive health settings in Kenya and India. Additionally, Katie manages the implementation of a family planning intervention in Uttar Pradesh, India focused on improving the provision of person-centered care by community health workers that aim to increase the adoption of family planning methods in urban settings.
