Kate Melino is an Associate Clinical Professor and co-director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program at the UCSF School of Nursing. In addition to ongoing curriculum development, her teaching foci include structural competency, reflexive practice, therapeutic communication, trauma-informed care, and PMHNP role development.

Kate has U.S. and international experience as a psychiatric provider, administrator, and clinical leader across the continuum of mental health services. Her clinical interests include integration of primary and behavioural health care, concurrent treatment of mental health and substance use disorders, geriatric psychiatry, and LGBTQ mental health.

Kate is a member of the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators.
