Kara Faktor, MD, MSc, is a general surgery resident at UCSF. She graduated from Brandeis University with a B.S. in neuroscience, biology and Hispanic studies and received her medical degree from UCLA.

During medical school, she spent a year in Rwanda conducting surgical site infection research through a Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellowship, as well as a year pursuing an MSc in Public Health for Development from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her research interests include local and global surgical equity.
