A third generation San Franciscan, Dr. Davis was born and raised in San Francisco before heading to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY for college. After graduating with a major in History with Distinction in All Subjects, he returned to San Francisco for medical school at UCSF. He continued on at UCSF for residency in Internal Medicine and then remained on the UCSF faculty as a hospitalist for the Congestive Heart Failure service for a year. From there he moved to Saint Louis, MO, for fellowships at Washington University in Cardiovascular Medicine and then Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. During his final year of his Cardiovascular Medicine fellowship he obtained a Master Degree in Population Health Sciences, which focused on clinical trial design, epidemiology, and biostatistics. It was during this time in Saint Louis that he met his wife. With training completed, they moved to Portland, OR, where Dr. Davis joined the Heart Failure faculty at Oregon Health and Science University. He also served as their Medical Director for Mechanical Circulatory Support. In the winter of 2018 he was recruited to return to ZSFG to develop and run a Heart Failure program. His research has focused heart failure readmissions, and he is very interested in systems of care delivery.
