John E Garry, MD, is an Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Surgery at the University of California San Francisco Fresno, UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research.

Dr. Garry received his undergraduate degree in psychology, and his medical degree, from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA. He completed his internship and general surgery residency at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Subsequently, he completed his Colon and Rectal Fellowship at Ferguson Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Dr. Garry has been a faculty member in the Department of Surgery since 2007. His clinical and didactic teaching involves education, lecturing, mentoring, and supervising medical students and residents that rotate on the colorectal service. In addition to his instructional role, Dr. Garry has run a thriving colon and rectal surgery private practice in Fresno for 30 years. Dr. Garry’s focus includes colon and rectal surgery and colon cancer surgery.

Dr. Garry is a member of numerous medical organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Northern California Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. platforms. He is board certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery.
