Dr. Boone-Heinonen is a Professor in the Institute for Health Policy Studies, with a joint appointment in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Her research interests focus on early life, behavioral, and environmental factors influence cardiometabolic health and related disparities throughout the life cycle.

She works with interdisciplinary teams to conduct NIH-funded women’s and children’s health research in electronic medical record-derived cohorts and other large study populations.

Dr. Boone-Heinonen holds a PhD in Nutrition Epidemiology from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also completed an Interdisciplinary Obesity Training postdoctoral fellowship. She was on the faculty in the School of Public Health at Oregon Health & Science University for 13 years prior to joining UCSF.
