Jamie Yao is an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF and works as a hospitalist physician at San Francisco General Hospital. Her academic interests include quality improvement and systems management as well as medical education. As a Bridges curriculum coach, she provides medical students guidance in professional development and teaching on clinical skills, communication, and quality improvement.

She also provides career development guidance in her role as one of the Internal Medicine confidential advisors. After founding the Word on the Wards interprofessional student health coaching program based at San Francisco General Hospital as a medical student in 2013, she now serves as one of its faculty advisors. Outside of medicine, in 2006 Jamie founded a youth literacy tutoring program called Read Write Discover for first through eighth grade students to continue learning during the summertime at libraries in the Bay Area.
