Currently serving as the Special Projects Analyst III for the Community Engagement and Research Action Group for Equity (RAGE) programs at UCSF’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), Jairo plays a vital role in advancing community-based initiatives. In this position, he leverages his critical thinking skills, effective communication, and project management expertise to support the development and implementation of programs that address health disparities and promote health equity.

Prior to joining UCSF, Jairo held various roles in dental clinical support, child development and education, and public health promotion and advocacy for public entities across different regions of California. These experiences have provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted challenges faced by diverse communities and have strengthened his ability to develop innovative and inclusive solutions.

Jairo’s educational background includes an MPH focused on Community Health Education from San Francisco State University, a PBC in Dentistry from the University of California San Francisco, and a BA in Psychology and Natural Sciences from the University of California Merced. This diverse academic foundation equips him with the interdisciplinary knowledge necessary to address complex public health issues.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Jairo actively contributes to community-centered efforts, including serving on the Pickleweed Advisory Board for the Canal neighborhood in the city of San Rafael. Through his involvement in various community initiatives, he continues to advocate for equitable access to healthcare and strives to empower individuals to take control of their well-being.

Jairo’s dedication, passion, and commitment to advancing health equity make him a valuable asset to the field of public health, healthcare and health research. His ability to bridge research, community engagement, and policy development positions him as a leader in driving positive change for underserved populations.
