Igor Abramovich, MD, PhD

As founder and Co-Principal Investigator of the Clinical Outcomes Research & Translational Excellence in Neuroanesthesia (CORTEX) Lab, I lead research focused on improving neuroanesthesia practices and patient outcomes through clinical research and data-driven approaches. Previously, as Chair of the European Society of Anaesthesiology Trainee Committee, I investigated residency training models and working conditions while advancing educational standards and introducing serious-game-based learning. I continue to foster international collaboration as a member of the International Subcommittee of the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS).

After earning my MD and PhD from the University of Hamburg, I completed my anesthesiology residency, followed by fellowships in critical care and prehospital emergency medicine at Charité in Berlin. I subsequently pursued a neuroanesthesia fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where I currently serve as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesia and Perioperative Care. My research focuses on perioperative brain health and innovative approaches to medical education.
