Hillary Braun, MD, MAS, is a general surgery resident at the University of California, San Francisco. Originally from Ohio, Dr. Braun earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University (2010) and attended UCSF for medical school (2016). Dr. Braun is pursuing a career in abdominal solid organ transplantation and will join the abdominal transplant fellowship program at UCSF in 2023.

During her dedicated research time, Dr. Braun earned a Masters in Advanced Studies through UCSF's Training in Clinical Research Program. She was a recipient of the 2019-2021 American College of Surgeons Resident Research Scholarship and worked with transplant surgeons, Drs. Nancy Ascher, Peter Stock, and Ryutaro Hirose, on a variety of clinical and translational projects in liver transplantation, including those examining the ethics of organ allocation, living donor liver transplantation, and gene expression in various types of rejection following liver transplantation.

Dr. Braun has published many peer-reviewed manuscripts in both national and international journals in surgery and transplantation, authored seven book chapters, and has been presenting her research both nationally and internationally since 2013.
