Dr. Geraldina Lionetti is a Professor of Pediatric Rheumatology and Section Chief and Medical Director of the Pediatric Rheumatology Department at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, which she established in 2013 to expand access to subspecialty care and enhance resident education in rheumatologic disorders.

To ensure adequate access to care, she also sees patients in the Walnut Creek outreach clinic and has been involved in developing the telehealth program. Her work is driven by a commitment to improving outcomes for children with rheumatic diseases through individualized treatment approaches that reduce disease and treatment related morbidity and support long-term health into adulthood.

Dr. Lionetti's research has focused on autoinflammatory disorders. Within the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), she has contributed through the PFAPA/Autoinflammatory Working Group and has led the development of an Autoinflammatory Network to expand access to collaborative clinical and research opportunities. In recognition of this work, she was named the U.S. Ambassador for Autoinflammatory Disorders as part of a global initiative.
