Eleanor Vogt, PhD, RPh

Dr. Vogt currently is Health Sciences Clinical Professor at the University of California San Francisco School of Pharmacy and was awarded the 2004-2005 Presidential Chair. Her career spans positions within academia, clinical pharmacy practice, the pharmaceutical industry, health policy and planning, regulatory affairs, patient safety advocacy and well-being and resiliency education.

Dr. Vogt served as Senior Fellow at The Institute for the Advancement of Community Pharmacy, She also served as Senior Fellow of the National Patient Safety Foundation at the American Medical Association and was a member of the Foundation’s pioneer founding team. She was the Vice President for Public Policy/Affairs for the National Pharmaceutical Council, a Washington DC think tank. She was a tenured professor at the University of Wisconsin and served in state and regional health planning capacities and practiced pharmacy in a variety of settings.

Dr. Vogt was co-recipient of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Continuing Professional Development Award in 2020 for creating a Certificate in Resiliency Medicine for pharmacist residents. She was elected President of the American Pharmacists Association Foundation in 2018. She was a co-recipient of the Jane Boggess Advancement of Pharmacy Practice Award in 2009 from the Pharmacy Foundation of California and received the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Leadership Award in 2004. She was honored with the Pinnacle Award for Life Long Career Achievement from the American Pharmacists Association Foundation in 2003. She has also been recognized nationally for her leadership in safe medication use in older adults by the National University Education Association and by the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research in developing the precedent setting Pharmaceutical Safe Use Initiative in 2000. Dr. Vogt is a co-founder of the Women in Government (WIG) Legislative/Business Roundtable and is the recipient of WIG’s first Wings Award for outstanding service.

Dr. Vogt received her B.S. in Pharmacy from Creighton University; M.Ed. in Adult Education and a Certificate in Human Relations Training from Boston University; and Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin. She served on the boards of the American Pharmacist Association Foundation and as President (2018-19), the Agoras Institute, Pharmacy Foundation of California, Women in Government (Board Member Emerita) and the American Diabetes Association’s Bay Area Leadership Board. She also served as a member of the Scientific and Medical Oversight Committee of the American Diabetes Association and Special Consultant to the FDA/CDER Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee and as member of the FDA/CDER NSAID Advisory Committee. She holds memberships in the American Pharmacists Association, The Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, The Institute of Noetic Sciences and the Ninety-Nines (international organization of women pilots).
