Christine Garvey is a nurse practitioner who cares for patients with sleep disorders and pulmonary conditions. Under the supervision of a doctor, she provides assessments, orders diagnostic tests, interprets test results and makes treatment recommendations.

Garvey's research interests include exercise and self-management for patients with chronic lung disease.

Garvey earned a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in public administration with a focus on health services at the University of San Francisco. She earned a master's degree in nursing from Holy Names College.

Garvey has authored chapters in the Lippincott Manual of Nursing Practice and has had her work published in several national professional journals. She is a former president of the California Thoracic Society. She has also served on many national and state committees, including as co-chair of the American Thoracic Society's pulmonary rehabilitation group. In addition, she has assisted with developing numerous international guidelines on helping patients with pulmonary conditions improve their functional abilities, symptoms and quality of life. Her awards include the Mary Burns Award from the California Society for Pulmonary Rehabilitation and a research scholarship from the American Lung Association in California.

Outside of work, Garvey enjoys improving her Italian language skills, traveling and exploring San Francisco.
