I have authored numerous research publications, covering topics such as motion-robust MR thermometry, ultrasound applicators for therapeutic ultrasound, MR-guided thermal therapy, and ultrasound-based treatment of various malignancies.

My contributions to the field have been recognized with several prestigious awards and honors, including the ESHO - Pyrexar Award from the European Society of Hyperthermic Oncology and being named a Fellow of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. I have also served as the President of the North American Hyperthermia Society.

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in leading research projects sponsored by the NIH, focusing on image-guided ultrasound ablation for precision targeting of prostate cancer, deployable ultrasound applicators for MRI-guided thermal therapy of pancreatic cancer, and methods for precise MR-guided hyperthermia delivery for targeted cancer therapies. Additionally, I have undertaken projects involving minimally-invasive catheter-based ultrasound for tumor ablation in the lung and non-thermal pulsed FUS (focused ultrasound) for the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration.

In summary, my work as a Professor in Radiation Oncology at UCSF centers on advancing the field of thermal therapy, ultrasound-based treatments, and image-guided interventions for cancer and other medical conditions, with a strong emphasis on precision and innovation.
