Her work is motivated by a central question: how can proven TB and HIV interventions be delivered more effectively, equitably, and sustainably in real-world health systems, particularly for populations facing structural and social vulnerability. Dr. Christian has led and contributed to a diverse portfolio of research spanning TB preventive therapy scale-up in Uganda, HIV prevention and adolescent empowerment interventions, social protection for TB-affected households, and equity-focused evaluations of public health programs in both low-resource and U.S. settings. Across these projects, she has developed strong expertise in mixed-methods research, stakeholder-engaged implementation strategies, and pragmatic evaluation approaches, with a consistent focus on translating evidence into practice at scale.

Dr. Christian is an active member of the UCSF TB Research Advancement and Mentorship (TB RAMP) program and a PRISE-HL T32 Training Program Fellow in Implementation Science and Health Equity, experiences that have further shaped her trajectory toward independent, implementation-focused TB and HIV research. Dr. Christian’s emerging independent research agenda centers on understanding and addressing the impacts of climate change on TB and HIV service delivery, particularly in high-burden settings such as Zimbabwe. She is especially interested in developing and evaluating climate-adaptive, equity-centered service delivery strategies that strengthen health system resilience and protect continuity of TB and HIV care in the face of increasing environmental shocks.
