He is also Director of the UCSF Neurodegenerative Disease Brain Bank.

Dr. Seeley’s research concerns regional vulnerability in neurodegenerative disease, that is, why particular disorders target specific neuronal populations. Dr. Seeley addresses this question a blend of clinical, neuroimaging, pathological, molecular, and bioinformatic methods. The goal of his research is to determine what makes brain tissues susceptible or resistant to disease, with an eye toward translating these findings into novel treatment approaches.
