She received her MD and PhD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, followed by internal medicine residency, chief residency, and fellowship training in gastroenterology at University of California, San Francisco.Her clinical practice spans both gastroenterology and hepatology, with a particular focus on patients with alcohol-associated liver disease. She cares for patients in the HALT clinic, a multidisciplinary program dedicated to the management and treatment of alcohol-associated liver disease.

Dr. Klepper’s laboratory-based research centers on two major areas: 1) Investigating host and microbial factors that contribute to cirrhosis-associated immune dysfunction, with a focus on immune and microbial signatures within ascites fluid and 2) Interrogating immune responses in autoimmune liver diseases, particularly autoimmune hepatitis, by using immune profiling approaches to better understand disease pathogenesis and heterogeneity.
