Andrew H. Murr, MD, FACS, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He has been the Roger Boles, MD Endowed Chair in Otolaryngology Education from 2006-2016 and is a member of the Academy of Medical Educators at UCSF.

Dr. Murr received his medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (now Drexel University), and completed a one-year internship in General Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, New York. He completed a residency and Chief Residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the St. Louis University Medical Center, Missouri . Dr. Murr is an attending physician at the UCSF campuses, and clinically centers his activities in general practice in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery.
As a faculty member in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at San Francisco General Hospital, Dr. Murr is able to pursue his interest in craniomaxillofacial trauma surgery, where he is able to concentrate on this long standing clinical focus. As a recognized physician in his field, Dr. Murr has been invited to over 250 presentations, international, national, regional, and local. He is a member of the American Rhinological Society, the American College of Surgeons, the Society of University Otolaryngologists, the Triological Society, and the UCSF Haile T. Debas Academy of Educators. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Murr is also the international representative for AOCMF North America to the AOCMF International Board, which is an organization devoted to teaching advanced methods of craniomaxillofacial trauma care. Dr. Murr is a Director of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the Treasurer of the Triological Society.
Dr. Murr’s research has focused on the evaluating the presence of fungi in chronic rhinosinusitis, on clinical aspects of facial trauma, and he has been part of a team that has analyzed the utility of a bioabsorbable steroid eluting stent in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis.
Dr. Murr provides his services as a reviewer to 6 scientific journals, and he has contributed to 20 book chapters and over 40 published journal articles.
