Alison S. Baskin, M.D. is currently a general surgery resident with the UCSF Department of Surgery. She completed her undergraduate studies at Stanford University majoring in Human Biology with a minor in Economics, followed by medical school at the University of Michigan where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Baskin engaged in research at the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases during a two-year research fellowship where she studied the metabolic implications of brown adipose tissue in human adults. During medical school, she investigated the factors influencing the reduction of low value cancer surgeries.

Dr. Baskin was a recipient of the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center Scholarship to support her medical education and research. She received the C. Gardner Child III Award, Moses Gunn Student Research Award, and Glasgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement. She has presented her work at major general surgery conferences, including the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress, Academic Surgical Congress, and Moses Gunn Research Symposium.
