Alexander Kim M.D. is currently a general surgery resident with the UCSF Department of Surgery. He undertook undergraduate studies at University of Illinois at Chicago majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. He received a medical degree from University of Illinois at Chicago - College of Medicine and was a member of the GPPA BS/MD program.

Between 2019-2021, Dr. Kim participated in the Surgical Innovations Program at UCSF under an R25 NIH training grant under the mentorship of Dr. Hanmin Lee, Dr. Michael Harrison, and Dr. Michael Conte.
Dr. Kim's clinical interest is in vascular surgery. His research interest is in acute vascular inflammation and the interactions of endogenous bioactive lipids that influence its resolution. His research has involved cellular and animal models of acute vascular injury and inflammation, and he has been involved in projects investigating potential therapeutic compounds and novel delivery platforms to modulate the inflammatory response to promote functional vascular remodeling and attenuate neointimal hyperplasia.
