Alex Bazazi MD PhD (he/him) is an Assistant Professor in the UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Assistant Director of the Research and Evaluation Unit at San Francisco General Hospital. As a psychiatrist and epidemiologist, Alex brings quantitative methods to bear on policy-oriented research at the intersection of substance use, mental health, HIV, and the carceral system.

He is passionate about harm reduction and health justice and is engaged with projects to understand and overcome clinical and structural barriers to care for marginalized populations in San Francisco, nationwide, and internationally.
